Currently binge reading The Remarried Empress and YOU GUYS IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED

It's funny, the villains are despicable idiots, there's even a background plot about war and loss of magic, and (so far) there's ZERO SPICE

Oh and it's not even a Daily Pass title!!!!!! It's free to read except for the newest episodes!!
I might be disappointed yet again
alas

what point are you being possibly disappointed on, the spiciness?

hmmm what'm I reading at the moment that's actually something I might recommend....

The Crown Princess Scandal is still excellent

The Gentle Way continues to be adorable and funny

Adopted by a Murderous Duke Family is still kinda early in the story but continues to be better than I expected. It's one of those "die and then wake up ten years ago for another round" stories but honestly I keep forgetting at this point that it started out that way lol

I'm behind on Top Dungeon Farmer and the Blind Prince because Webtoon stopped putting them in my front page updates list and I forgot lol, and Sable Curse is on break now.

I finally finished Dungeons & Artifacts. Satisfying high-action shounen litrpg adventure, if you like violent monster fights, which I do. Notable feature: no harem.

I'm still carrying through with 66,666 years: Advent of the Dark Mage because I'm invested, but it just hasn't felt the same since they swapped out the previous artist. I dunno why. It might be a coincidence, but it's like... it doesn't feel bad by any stretch, but it feels like the whole series lost some special spark.

Yeah the webtoon kept hinting at spice, but it turns out they toned it down (apparently, the novel is very explicit??). It was only a couple episodes and I managed to skip it :)

i had a moment like that just recently with For My Derelict Favorite, lol, it's generally been very much not spicy but there is a Scene, which apparently in the book is One Hell of a Scene but in the webtoon is thankfully just an extremely suggestive montage sequence.

Yeah ngl I kinda stopped reading when it seemed like that was the direction it was going in :/

I've also just dropped Remarried Empress because the love interest is creeping me out so OH WELL

I've decided to give Introverted Us a chance, though, despite it being about high schoolers: https://www.webtoons.com/en/comedy/intr ... le_no=6851

So far it's cute, and potentially healthy?? Very clearly inspired by Kimi ni Todoke, if that means anything to you :)

thanks to one of the latest batch of banner ads, I may have found the perfect webtoon

THE CHECKLIST OF GREAT THINGS

- primary thread of a gay m/m romance but it is the slowest of slow burns I am not even joking it is like how old glass window panes are thicker at the bottom because glass actually flows kind of slow and I love it. 216 episodes in and the main character literally just had the thought of "wait. does he LIKE me???"
- lots of angst, trauma, emotional baggage, and NONE OF IT IS BECAUSE THEY'RE GAY
- ridiculous men being ridiculous in the best ways, we are talking like that scene when Howl comes flying down the stairs in a panic and a towel because his hair stopped being blonde
- supernatural world building and it's really good and relevant and ties in with everything in the story and character development and there is virtually no info-dumping it all just comes out in the story
- I love the HECK out of this art style
- blood, sometimes violence, but like no actual graphic gore it's so nice it's all about the character impact
- a character who's a total asshole but it's because he's a good person who's been warped by circumstances
- a character who's a kind sweetheart but it's because he's been repressing his own wants and needs in exchange for taking care of others for his whole life
- no smut! like. it is the opposite of smut. occasionally these two ridiculous men make meaningful eye contact and sometimes they may even BLUSH. someday they may even have a moment where they HOLD HANDS, or perhaps have a HUG

also, Little Hollow Cafe also has promise, it's new, queer fantasy slice of life that seems cute so far, but I'm a little sad they used "deja brew" for a supernaturally toned coffee shop name before I succeeded at doing so myself, lol
